What is Trezor Bridge and why you need it
Trezor Bridge is a small helper application that enables communication between the Trezor® Hardware Wallet and your web browser or desktop apps. When you use the Trezor Suite or perform a Trezor Wallet Login on supported browsers, Bridge acts as the secure middleman so your private keys never leave the device.
Supported platforms & compatibility
- Windows, macOS and Linux — official packages available on trezor.io/bridge.
- Works with both the web-based Trezor Suite App and the desktop Suite.
- Requires a data-capable USB cable and compatible browser (latest Chrome, Edge, etc.).
How to install (quick steps)
1. Download: visit Trezor Bridge Download and pick your OS.
2. Install: run the installer and follow prompts — admin privileges may be required on Windows/macOS.
3. Connect: plug in your Trezor® Hardware Wallet and open Trezor Suite.
4. Authorize: complete the Trezor Login or device confirmations to manage accounts.
Security & best practices
- Only download Bridge from trezor.io or the official trezor.io/start guide.
- Keep firmware and Trezor Suite updated; updates include security improvements.
- Never share your recovery seed — Bridge and Suite never request it.
Troubleshooting common issues
- If Suite doesn't detect your device: ensure Bridge is running, try a different USB cable/port, and restart the browser.
- On Linux, check udev rules and permissions — official instructions on trezor.io/start help configure them.
- If Bridge fails after an update, reinstall from trezor.io/bridge.
